Lyrics: Percy Mayfield
Music: Percy Mayfield
This was sung twice by Elvin Bishop during Mickey and the Hartbeats shows in 1968. He recorded it on his first album in 1969. It is credited there to Percy Mayfield, though I can't find any evidence that Mayfield himself recorded it. Not to be confused with the song of the same title performed by James Brown and others.
It is often listed in setlist as "Prisoner Blues" or "Baby Please Come Back To Me"
Baby please, baby please come back to me
Baby please, baby please come back to me
'Cause you know I am your prisoner
And I need your love to set me free
I woke up early one morning, before the break of day
I looked down on my bed beside me and my baby has gone away
Baby please, baby please come back to me
'Cause you know I am your prisoner
And I need your love to set me free
Well I know my tears are wasted, I know I'm crying in vain
I know I've lost my baby but I love her just the same
I'm crying baby please, baby please come back to me
'Cause you know I am your prisoner
And I need your love to set me free
Baby please, baby please come back to me
Baby please, baby please come back to me
'Cause you know I am your prisoner
And I need your love to set me free
