Lyrics: Robert Hunter
Music: Robert Hunter
In a 1988 interview with Blair Jackson, Hunter noted that this was one of the lyrics he's given to the Dead just before they made their 1987 album In The Dark. The Dead never used it and Hunter himself recorded his version on his 1988 album Liberty
Black Shamrock, cut out the smart talk
If you can't hack it, why don't you walk
Get away, while it's still a sunny day
Follow through
Remember what you're dreaming of
(Dreaming of)
Somewhere there's an altitude
Bound to match your attitude
Shadowland memory
Three-part harmony
Might as well be you as me
And you can sing on key
Yes, indeed
Remember what you're dreaming of
(Dreaming of)
Black Shamrock, hung up in dry dock
Forces in deadlock, you know what you know
Fall below, you're a very easy laugher, but you know
Can't laugh at what you're dreaming of
(Dreaming of)
When it's all said and done
Maybe you should cut and run
Full speed power dive
Kick it into overdrive
If anyone gets out alive
It might as well be you
Follow through
Remember what you're dreaming of
(Dreaming of)
(Dreaming of)
(Dreaming of)
Black Shamrock, shoot off the padlock
This is your own place, you don't have to knock
No one's home
You live here on your own
Yeah, you do
Remember what you're dreaming of
(Dreaming of)
Sterling steel, made to last
Shame the scandals of your past
Stake your claim and mine it fast
You've nothing left to prove
Follow through
Remember what you're dreaming of
(Dreaming of)
Black Shamrock
(Dreaming of)
(Dreaming of)
(Dreaming of)
(Dreaming of)
