following background:
"The name means "Garland of Rhythms." As varied flowers are bound together into a galrand, so different rhythmic cycles are interwoven. The composition is based on a melody that is 102.5 beats long. Various talas in 3, 5, and 102.5 revolve around each other during two cycles of the melody, a total of 205 beats in the larger phrase. The timbale solo is in 3, the dumbek in 5 or 10, the tympani/conga duet in 10.25 and the tabla solo in 10.25."
