Lyrics: [in Zulu]
Music: Solomon Linda//Pete Seeger
In Jesse Jarnow's book "Wasn't That A Time: The Weavers, the Blacklist, and the Battle for the Soul of America" he quotes Brigid Meier as saying "Robert Hunter was known to lead crowds in wonderful versions of Wimoweh". There's no known recording of this.
Wimoweh was a song performed under that title by Pete Seeger with The Weavers. It was in fact a Zulu chant "Mbube" written by Solomon Linda. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was based on a fragment of the melody.
